Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification (30/4/1975-30/4/2025), the film Mua do (Red Rain), depicting the 81 tragic days and nights at the Quang Tri Citadel, premiered on 22/8. Around the same time, the song "What Could Be More Beautiful," performed by Nguyen Hung, quickly gained attention, despite not being featured in the film.
Before the film's premiere, the song went viral on TikTok. Tens of thousands of users chose the chorus, "The war will end if I don't return/Mother, be happy, you have a heroic son," as the soundtrack for videos about patriotism. By 14/9, approximately 270,000 videos used the song to convey love for their country and national pride for the National Day holiday on 2/9.
With a lyrical, gentle melody and evocative lyrics, the song portrays memories of war, the anticipation of peace, and the longing for it.
