5 people suffer respiratory burns after 4-story house fire in TP HCM

Five individuals were hospitalized after escaping a four-story house fire in Cho Lon ward, all suffering from skin and respiratory burns.

Five people were injured, and two others died in a house fire that erupted around 1:30 AM on 17/9 in Cho Lon ward, TP HCM. The five survivors were rushed to local hospitals for urgent care, all presenting with varying degrees of skin and respiratory burns.

Among the injured, a 15-year-old girl is in critical condition at Cho Ray Hospital. On the afternoon of 17/9, Dr. Truong Duong Tien, Head of Intensive Care Unit D at the hospital, reported that the girl sustained severe respiratory burns, 91% second-third degree skin burns, and burn shock. Medical teams provided anti-shock resuscitation, endoscopic aspiration of charcoal dust from her airway, mechanical ventilation, and comprehensive burn care. Doctors are scheduled to perform a bronchial endoscopy on her on the morning of 18/9 for re-examination, as she is currently the most severely injured survivor of the blaze.

Additionally, a 38-year-old woman sustained 15% first-second degree skin burns to her face and both hands, accompanied by respiratory burns. Both the teenager and the woman are receiving oxygen support via a mask, underwent bronchial endoscopy, and are being treated in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery.
