A CT scan at Tam Anh General Hospital TP HCM revealed that the patient had a 10 cm cyst located in the right adrenal gland, displacing the right kidney. Blood and urine tests, along with an assessment of the patient's endocrine function, were within normal limits, indicating no complex blood pressure or metabolic disorders.
According to Doctor of First Degree Specialization Pham The Anh from the Urology Department, Center for Urology - Nephrology - Andrology, Cam's case required early surgery. The large cyst posed risks of infection, potentially leading to high fever, severe pain, and affecting her overall health. Larger cysts also carry a heightened risk of rupture, which can cause massive internal hemorrhage, resulting in hemorrhagic shock and becoming life-threatening for the patient.
The surgical team performed a laparoscopic procedure to safely remove the entire cyst. This minimally invasive approach ensured less pain and faster recovery for the patient, while preserving the adrenal gland's endocrine function.

The surgery lasted three hours. The team precisely dissected and completely removed the cyst from the right adrenal gland without damaging surrounding blood vessels or healthy kidney tissue. This minimally invasive method resulted in minimal blood loss (about 10 ml), preserving maximum kidney function.
Three days after the operation, Cam recovered well. Her incision pain was minimal, allowing her to walk gently and eat normally before being discharged. Pathology results confirmed a benign cyst, requiring no further post-operative treatment.
Doctor The Anh recommends regular health check-ups, including ultrasounds, for early detection of kidney cysts. He advises adopting a healthy lifestyle, effectively managing blood pressure, staying well-hydrated, limiting high-salt foods, avoiding painkiller abuse, and refraining from harmful habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption to protect kidney function. If abnormal signs such as dull flank pain, blood in urine, or recurrent urinary tract infections occur, patients should consult a specialist for timely diagnosis and treatment.
