Body shamed, woman "demolishes and rebuilds" her appearance

After enduring body shaming since childhood, Summer Lynn invested in extensive cosmetic procedures, publicly sharing her health complications to raise community awareness.

Last July, the content creator, over 20 years old, from New Hope, Alabama, posted a video documenting her entire plastic surgery journey, accompanied by a message about living for oneself. The video quickly gained significant attention on social media.

Sharing with People magazine, Lynn revealed that many people ridiculed her weight and natural nose throughout her teenage years. These disparaging remarks left lasting psychological wounds, distorting her self-perception. Instead of concealing her cosmetic procedures, she chose to disclose every surgery because she wanted to avoid creating the illusion of effortless natural beauty. Furthermore, she aimed to help those with body image issues view cosmetic intervention as a realistic solution.

Lynn's list of procedures includes: a nose job, cat eye lift, mid-face lift, buccal fat removal, 5 chin liposuction sessions, 2-3 breast augmentations, a brazilian butt lift (BBL - an autologous fat transfer procedure to the buttocks), and multiple full-body liposuction sessions.

While satisfied with her eyes, nose, and chin, Lynn admitted to mistakes regarding buccal fat removal, BBL, and excessive liposuction. These interventions resulted in damaging health complications. Despite this, she has not stopped her modification journey. Following her next weight loss phase, Lynn plans to undergo breast reduction surgery, a lower facelift, and an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Experts indicate that the abuse of cosmetic surgery to compensate for psychological trauma, as in Lynn's case, reflects typical signs of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). Undergoing a rapid succession of major surgeries, such as multiple breast augmentations or full-body liposuction, creates immense strain, leaving the body insufficient time to recover and facing risks of anaphylactic shock or sepsis.

Among the interventions Lynn has undergone, the brazilian butt lift (BBL) carries one of the highest mortality risks in the cosmetic industry due to the danger of pulmonary embolism if fat migrates into blood vessels. Additionally, excessive liposuction can lead to tissue necrosis, fibrosis, and permanent skin deformation.

Instead of continuously scheduling subsequent surgeries like breast reduction or abdominoplasty, patients should prioritize consulting a psychiatrist to address the root causes of their insecurity rather than seeking solace from the operating table.

Facing mixed comments on social media, Lynn maintains a nonchalant attitude. She ignores criticism, prioritizes her own feelings, and appreciates the empathy from her supporters.
