Doctor Le Thi Huong Giang, Head of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at Hospital 19-8 (Ministry of Public Security), stated that many people mistakenly believe this device completely eliminates fat, leading them to eat without restraint. In reality, the appliance only "reduces oil" compared to traditional frying methods and cannot transform processed foods into healthy meals. Doctor Giang emphasized that regularly consuming high-temperature fried foods increases the risk of excess energy, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.
Users also face risks when neglecting to clean the air fryer basket after each use. Accumulated grease and food debris, under repeated heating, generate free radicals and oxidants that can cause illness. The expert recommends that families clean the basket immediately after use and replace the appliance when the non-stick coating peels off.

Another common mistake is setting the temperature too high or cooking for too long, which chars food and creates many unfavorable compounds. People should avoid using temperatures above 200 degrees C for extended periods. The expert suggests safe temperatures: 160-175 degrees C for 10-20 minutes for vegetables and potatoes; 170-180 degrees C for 10-15 minutes for fish and seafood; and 180 degrees C for 15-25 minutes for poultry, depending on size. During cooking, home cooks should flip food evenly and avoid stacking to ensure optimal hot air circulation.
Doctor Giang affirmed that air fryers are not magical machines that allow users to eat carelessly and still remain healthy. The determining factors for health lie in choosing fresh ingredients, controlling portion sizes, limiting processed foods, and maintaining a balanced diet.
