"The tumor has spread and metastasized into the bones and other parts," Hunter stated in the interview aired on 7/8/2026. "The disease causes intense pain and has weakened his health in many ways."
In 5/2025, less than four months after leaving the White House, Joe Biden first publicly disclosed his diagnosis of rapidly progressive prostate cancer, with cancer cells having metastasized to his bones. In 10/2025, his spokesperson confirmed the former president was undergoing radiation therapy and endocrine treatment.

Hunter Biden stated that his father's cancer has been a heavy blow to the family. "It's heartbreaking to witness," Hunter shared. "The only thing I can say about my father's health right now is that I wish he would complain more, because the situation is truly not good."
Despite this, Hunter noted that his father continues to appear in public and speak out on issues he cares about. "He is still contributing in his own way," Hunter said, adding, "He places his full trust in this country."
Hunter's comments followed former first lady Jill Biden's interview with NBC News in 6/2026, where she stated her husband would have to live with cancer for the rest of his life.
"He is still doing fine," she said. "I think if he had only just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, that would be one thing, because that disease can be cured. But cancer cells having metastasized to the bone is a completely different story. Therefore, I think Joe will have to live with cancer for the rest of his life."
According to Reuters, a representative for Joe Biden on 8/8/2026 declined to comment on Hunter Biden's interview. When he won the 2020 election, Biden was the oldest person ever elected US president. His physical condition and mental acuity were constant subjects of scrutiny throughout his term from 2021 to 2025.
Last 6/2026, the former president appeared in Chicago to attend the inauguration of the Barack Obama Presidential Library; he served as vice president alongside Obama from 2009-2017. His presidential memoir, "Promise Me, America," is expected to be released on 17/11/2026.
