On the afternoon of 12/4, Doctor Cao Hoai Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Nhan Dan 115 Hospital, stated that the hospital admitted four patients transferred from Trung My General Hospital in the early morning. They were suffering from respiratory failure after the house fire. Among them, a 29-year-old male patient was in a coma, had severe respiratory failure, and second-degree burns over approximately 36% of his body, requiring mechanical ventilation.
A couple, both 25 years old, were also in a coma, suffering from severe respiratory failure and multi-organ failure, and were intubated and mechanically ventilated. The remaining patient, a 21-year-old male, is currently conscious and responsive but still requires high-flow oxygen.
According to Doctor Tuan Anh, bronchoscopy and lavage revealed significant soot in the airways. The hospital consulted with specialists and is treating them according to a smoke inhalation protocol. Currently, the condition of the four patients remains complex with a severe prognosis. They are being closely monitored and treated in the Intensive Care and Anti-poisoning Department.
A one-year-old boy, son of the couple mentioned above, is being treated at Nhi Dong 1 Hospital for toxic gas inhalation, with primary damage to the respiratory tract. He is currently receiving oxygen support via a mask and does not yet require mechanical ventilation; his condition is temporarily stable.
Around 3 am, a fire broke out at a tube-shaped boarding house, approximately 100 m² in area, on Nguyen Thi Thoi street, Tan Thoi Hiep ward (TP HCM).
