A 31-year-old man was admitted to Duc Giang General Hospital in Hanoi on 4/2 following a severe gym accident. He sustained a grade 4 liver rupture with active bleeding, a condition doctors deemed life-threatening without immediate intervention. Fortunately, he is now stable and continuing to be monitored.

Upon admission, a computed tomography (CT) scan confirmed the grade 4 liver rupture and active internal bleeding. Given the patient's severe shock, the medical team opted for endovascular intervention instead of traditional open surgery, which carried significant risks. Doctor Ngo Vinh Hoai, Deputy Head of the Imaging Department, and his team successfully performed embolization to stop the bleeding.
Doctor Hoai explained that embolization is a complex technique requiring millimeter-precise actions to control the bleeding point. This method ensures immediate hemostasis, preserves healthy liver tissue, shortens recovery, and limits complications compared to conventional surgery.
While exercise offers many health benefits, it also carries risks if performed incorrectly or excessively. Doctors advise caution during workouts and recommend thoroughly checking equipment to prevent serious injuries.
