Recognizing the high risk of organ necrosis if the "golden hour" for intervention was missed, Dr. Nguyen Huu Thao and the Andrology Center team immediately performed emergency surgery. Using an operating microscope magnified 8-10 times, the surgeons meticulously identified and reconnected all arterial and venous structures, along with the vas deferens. Dr. Thao noted that this was one of the most complex and rare cases of bilateral testicular amputation seen in recent years, emphasizing that even a minor error could have resulted in surgical failure.
Despite the patient having two children, the surgical team made every effort to preserve the testicles. These organs are crucial as they function as the primary "factory" for testosterone production, directly impacting physiological and psychological health, as well as male vitality. The successful surgery restored blood circulation to the affected area, offering the patient a significant opportunity to recover sexual function.
Drawing from this case, medical experts warn that the habit of alcohol abuse severely damages the central nervous system and significantly impairs behavioral control, in addition to causing chronic liver diseases. In a state of intoxication, alcoholics are prone to self-destructive actions, which can result in permanent injury or even death.
