On the morning of 19/12, Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital's second facility in Ninh Binh were inaugurated, ready to operate and receive patients. These are two national key healthcare projects, featuring modern investments and high-tech applications, aspiring to reach the standards of advanced countries in the region. Speaking at the event, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan stated that the opening of these two hospitals will allow tens of millions of people in the Northern and North Central regions to access high-tech medical services locally.
According to a representative from the Ministry of Health, the two second-facility hospitals were constructed over 10 years, overcoming many procedural and resource challenges. The project was executed with strict requirements for specialized medical care, prioritizing landscape and nature-friendly designs to create hospitals comparable to leading facilities in the region.

Upon operation, these facilities will be modern, integrated, and international-standard medical centers. The buildings are designed to be interconnected with wide corridors, facilitating movement and professional activities. The hospitals apply digital transformation in patient examination and treatment, featuring patient reception kiosks in the lobby. They are also equipped with advanced machinery to serve patients.
Specifically, Bach Mai Hospital features a monolithic architecture, shaped like a grand piano, while Viet Duc Hospital presents a soft, curved facade. Both structures showcase European architectural styles with open spaces, abundant greenery, and utilization of natural light. Additionally, waiting areas, examination rooms, and treatment zones are adorned with plants, miniature landscapes, and seating, creating a welcoming atmosphere to reduce stress for patients and their families.

Treatment rooms are designed to be private and comfortable, similar to hotel rooms. This significantly reduces the common issue of shared beds and patients in corridors, prevalent in many central hospitals in Hanoi and other major cities. Attention was also given to small details, such as equipping hospital restrooms with dedicated facilities for people with disabilities.
At Emergency Center A9 – Bach Mai Hospital's second facility, in addition to modern equipment, the waiting area and corridors feature ample greenery and skylights, creating an airy environment. Signage and functional areas are harmoniously arranged.

According to the leadership of both hospitals, hundreds of highly qualified doctors will be deployed to work at the second facilities. Associate Professor Doctor Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, confirmed that the unit has finalized its staffing and equipment plans. Over 600 medical staff from Hanoi volunteered for rotation, combined with newly recruited personnel, are ready to operate 325 beds and two emergency operating rooms in the initial phase at the second facility.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Doctor Duong Duc Hung, Director of Viet Duc Hospital, stated that immediately after receiving the construction components, the hospital will install equipment and finalize operational procedures. Initially, the unit will commence operations at about 30% capacity, equivalent to 300 beds, to ensure safety and efficiency.
"Investing in modern infrastructure aims to enable doctors to work long-term with peace of mind, while enhancing the quality of medical services. The airy spaces with natural light help both patients and doctors relax. This is a crucial psychological factor in the examination and treatment process," a representative from Bach Mai Hospital's leadership explained.

According to the Ministry of Health, for residents of neighboring provinces, the operation of these two major hospitals in Ninh Binh will shorten travel distances and reduce pressure on healthcare facilities in Hanoi. Furthermore, the modern, patient-friendly model at Bach Mai and Viet Duc's second facilities is expected to improve healthcare quality, retain domestic patients, and limit the trend of seeking treatment abroad.
