On 7/4, Darren McGrady, Queen Elizabeth's former private chef of 15 years, revealed this surprising fact in a YouTube cooking video. The current online sensation involves young people pressing Biscoff biscuits into Greek yogurt pots, chilling them, and enjoying them as a low-calorie breakfast or dessert. However, McGrady quickly recreated the dish with ginger biscuits, precisely as the Queen preferred, highlighting its royal origins.

McGrady recounted his time working at Buckingham Palace from 1982 to 1993, where chefs referred to this dessert as "ginger biscuit ice cream". The Queen loved to request it and frequently enjoyed it after her main meals. To satisfy the monarch's palate, the former chef would dip ginger biscuits into a whisky and water mixture to soften them, then layer Greek yogurt, and top it with a touch of fresh cream for garnish. He considered it one of the simplest recipes, yet it was a constant feature on the royal dining table.
Beyond its royal endorsement, nutrition expert Sergio Guerrero commented on the dish's main ingredient, Greek yogurt, stating that it offers numerous health benefits. This food provides abundant calcium, helping consumers maintain strong bones and joints and prevent osteoporosis, particularly in older adults and menopausal women. When combined with vitamin D, the body absorbs calcium significantly better, further enhancing its benefits.
Additionally, the high protein content and beneficial bacteria in Greek yogurt activate energy burning, create a prolonged feeling of fullness, and effectively support weight management. Scientists also indicate that regular yogurt consumption helps reduce the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. For active individuals, the high biological protein from this food supports muscle building and accelerates recovery, reducing post-workout fatigue.
