The Dak Lak Department of Health issued an urgent dispatch on 21/3, calling for the swift implementation of rabies prevention and control measures. This action followed the confirmation of six cases where individuals were bitten by a rabid dog in the area.

The incident began in early February when one of two dogs belonging to a household in Thanh Cong hamlet, Ea Na commune, developed symptoms consistent with rabies and subsequently died. The family buried the animal in their garden.
On 15/3, the remaining dog from the same household unexpectedly attacked six people: three family members and three local residents. It also bit three other dogs from neighboring households.
Immediately after the attacks, all six victims received rabies vaccine. Local authorities responded by capturing, confining, and isolating the three bitten dogs for observation.
After the aggressive dog died, laboratory tests confirmed it was positive for the rabies virus. In response, local authorities organized the culling of 11 dogs from nearby homes. Additionally, over 200 dogs in the affected area were isolated, vaccinated, and placed under observation.
Currently, the health of the six individuals bitten by the dog remains stable, with no unusual symptoms reported.
