Two pharmaceutical companies fined 130 million dong for illegal drug sales and imports

Hoang Duc Pharmaceutical Company and Delta Medical Import-Export Company have been fined and had their import activities suspended by the Drug Administration of Vietnam for repeatedly selling controlled drugs to unauthorized entities and illegally importing traditional medicine.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam, under the Ministry of Health, issued the fine decision on 10/2. Hoang Duc Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., headquartered in TP HCM, received a 35 million dong fine for selling pharmaceuticals to an unauthorized business.

Specifically, Hoang Duc sold Larrivey, a specially controlled drug, to PNK Pharma Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a wholesale drug facility. PNK Pharma's pharmaceutical business license, however, did not authorize the wholesale of controlled substances.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam confirmed Hoang Duc committed this violation seven times. This repeated offense was considered an aggravating circumstance, leading the regulatory agency to impose an organizational fine double that for individuals committing the same transgression.

Concurrently, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued a 95 million dong fine to Delta Medical Import-Export Co., Ltd., based in Bac Ninh. This company imported and distributed three traditional medicine products: Canease, Sam nhung duong tam, and Thong tam lac, without the necessary authorization in its business license.

Similar to Hoang Duc, Delta repeatedly violated regulations with 15 import shipments of the three traditional medicines. Beyond the monetary penalty, authorities also imposed an additional sanction: suspending the company's drug import activities at its business premises in Tu Son ward, Bac Ninh, for five months.

Both companies are required to pay their respective fines within 10 days of receiving the decision, or face compulsory enforcement.

Since early January, regulatory authorities have consistently uncovered and addressed numerous cases involving the illegal and substandard production and trading of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. These actions by the Drug Administration of Vietnam aim to strengthen market discipline and safeguard consumer health amidst a rising trend of violations. Most recently, the agency imposed a 165 million dong fine on two companies, GAMMA and Pharmedic, in TP HCM, for violations in cosmetic and drug manufacturing and distribution.
