Woman's breasts continue to grow despite 32 kg weight loss due to rare condition

Tianna Moon, 30, lost nearly 32 kg through medication and gastric sleeve surgery, but her breasts continued to grow uncontrollably due to gigantomastia, forcing her to consider surgical intervention.

Despite a slimmer waist after her weight loss efforts, Tianna was astonished to find her breast size growing disproportionately. After an examination last July, doctors diagnosed her with Gigantomastia, an extreme breast hypertrophy. This rare condition causes rapid and excessive breast tissue growth, potentially due to hormonal changes, genetics, or medication side effects, though the exact cause remains unconfirmed by medical science. To protect her spine and prevent chronic pain, Tianna underwent physical therapy and gastric sleeve surgery in 11/2025.

This condition causes severe physical pain for the 30-year-old. She frequently experiences numb hands and difficulty breathing when lying on her back due to the weight compressing her chest. Bra straps dig deep, forming grooves on her shoulders, while the skin under her breasts constantly chafes, leading to tears and infections. Tianna is now considering breast reduction surgery to alleviate the physical burden, despite doctors warning there is no guarantee the breast tissue will stop growing after the procedure.

Tianna's journey began in 5/2024, when she weighed 120 kg. Her inability to find suitable bras and the injuries from body compression motivated her to lose weight. Using Mounjaro medication, she successfully lost nearly 20 kg in the first 12 months, and an additional 13 kg thereafter. However, as her body weight decreased, her breasts expanded significantly. She often had to use bandages to conceal their true size and avoid intrusive stares in public.

In the UK, the National Health Service (NHS) applies strict standards for patients seeking this surgery. Patients must have a body mass index (BMI) below 26, and demonstrate that their breasts cause pain, skin irritation, depression, or impede movement. Additionally, the amount of breast tissue expected to be removed must be at least 500 grams. Doctors often advise patients to strive for maximum weight loss before opting for surgery.

Facing the strain of her condition and head trauma that prevents full-time work, Tianna chose to cope positively by joining the OnlyFans platform. She stated that a social media follower advised her to get re-measured and investigate the true cause of this abnormal growth. Tianna shared that she would rather leverage her health condition to earn a living than succumb to negativity, while continuing to seek appropriate medical solutions to improve her quality of life.
