The patient was transferred from An Binh Hospital to Cho Ray Hospital late on 18/9 with swelling, right wrist and right lower leg deformities, and pain in the thoracic spine. Imaging confirmed a T6 vertebral compression fracture, multiple rib fractures, a fibula fracture, toe fractures, a minor intracranial hematoma, and lung damage.

On 19/9, Doctor Le Doan Khac Di, Deputy Head of the Neurosurgery Department at Cho Ray Hospital, stated that the patient is currently conscious, with stable vital signs, and is continuing to receive close monitoring and intensive treatment. Doctors have splinted her right lower leg and foot and are consulting with specialists to determine the best course of action.

Earlier, the woman and her husband were hit by a tree branch, approximately 30 cm in diameter, which broke during a storm on An Duong Vuong street, Cho Quan ward, as they were returning home from work. Both were rushed to An Binh Hospital for emergency care, but her husband succumbed to his severe injuries.

An Duong Vuong street is lined with many ancient oil trees over 20 m tall. In 9/2024, an oil tree branch, about 20 cm in diameter, fell from a height of nearly 20 m on this road, near Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, striking a 52-year-old woman and causing her death. In 2016, an oil tree over 30 m tall with a diameter of about one meter was uprooted during rainfall, hitting a 25-year-old man who also died.
