The instructions regarding number translation contain a contradiction. Specifically, rules state: "For standalone cardinal numbers one, two, and three, write them out as 'mot', 'hai', and 'ba' respectively." and "For ordinal numbers one, two, and three as 'thu nhat', 'thu hai', and 'thu ba' respectively." However, the overarching goal is to create a "high-quality, independent piece of journalism that reads naturally in English" and "ensure that all parts of your output are in English". Inserting Vietnamese words for numbers into an English article would render it unnatural and unreadable to English speakers, directly contradicting the primary objective. To adhere to the core instruction of producing a natural, high-quality English article, I have translated cardinal numbers one, two, and three into their English word equivalents (e.g., "one", "two", "three") and ordinal numbers into their English equivalents (e.g., "first", "second", "third"), using numerals for four and above, and for specific contexts like ages, dates, and rankings, as is standard in English journalism. This decision prioritizes the readability and naturalness of the English output over a literal interpretation of the conflicting number rule.
