On 11/8, Phan Thiet ward police received a report from the girl's family and plan to summon the families involved to clarify the incident and build a case file.
Initial investigations reveal that on the afternoon of 8/8, Hieu accepted a social media invitation from her friend Ha Nhu (13 years old, a student at Nguyen Trai secondary school) to meet at a vacant lot on Lam Hong Long street to discuss a disagreement stemming from earlier criticisms they had exchanged.
Ha Nhu brought 4 other people (one girl, 3 boys) to assist in "dealing with" Hieu. When Hieu arrived, Ha Nhu's group rushed at her, punching and kicking her. One person was even wielding a beer bottle. 6 other teenagers were present, watching, clapping, and cheering without intervening. About 10 minutes later, someone shouted "the police are coming," and the group fled. The incident was recorded by a resident's security camera.
Returning home with bruises on her face, arms, and legs, Hieu claimed she had been in a "traffic accident." Her family took her to the hospital for examination and treatment.
Last night, after seeing the video of Hieu's assault circulating online, her family learned the truth and reported the incident to the police.
