Daryl Berman was accused of stabbing her husband, David, 84, at their home in Prestwich, Greater Manchester on 13/3/2025.
On the day of the incident, Berman called emergency services, reporting she believed her husband had "slipped" in the kitchen and "blood was coming from his mouth."
When paramedics arrived, they found David on the kitchen floor, next to a food tray, a 12 cm paring knife, and a broken plate. Despite resuscitation efforts, the victim died about 40 minutes later.
Police arrived at the scene, and Daryl asked them, "You don't think I killed him, do you?"
She recounted hearing two loud noises from the kitchen and "rushing in" to find her husband gasping for breath on the floor, covered in blood. This echoed her earlier statement to the emergency operator.
Suspicions arose when two pathologists conducted a post-mortem examination. They discovered the injuries had characteristics more consistent with a deliberate attack than an accidental fall.

David Berman was a known figure in the community, whose health had recently declined. He had previously been diagnosed with dementia, a collapsed lung, and heart disease, necessitating a walking stick for mobility.
Testifying in court on 23/6, Daryl maintained she was not involved in her husband's death. She told police that her husband frequently fell due to his deteriorating health.
The couple had been together for 30 years, sharing a loving relationship, and she had always supported him. However, after his death, some family members noted her unusual "calmness" and "indifference."
After deliberations, the jury found her guilty. Sentencing will take place on a different date.
