On 15/1, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office in Michigan announced that Crystal Royster, 42, was sentenced to 14 days in jail and 18 months of probation.
Under the terms of her probation, Royster is prohibited from contacting the victims and "must notify the school" before entering school grounds. She is also required to attend an anger management class.
According to the prosecutor's office, Royster was charged for making two false bomb threats to Lake Shore High School in Michigan on 12/3/2025, after her daughter was not allowed to participate in a school play.
Officials stated that Royster's daughter "could not participate" due to school policy, as she "was sick and had been sent home early that day".
Following Royster's bomb threat, over 700 individuals were evacuated from the school, prompting a large-scale emergency response from police and other authorities at the scene.

According to the judge, while the court deemed probation an appropriate penalty, Royster's actions caused significant disruption and concern within the community.
Royster was charged with making a false report or threat of a bomb, a felony offense carrying a maximum sentence of four years in prison. She pleaded guilty in 11/2025.
According to the US Department of Justice, individuals convicted of making false threats "willfully and maliciously or with reckless disregard for the safety of human life" can face a maximum fine of 5,000 USD or five years in prison.
In 2024, a middle school student was charged with inducing panic after posting on social media about bombs inside Clearview High School and Durling Middle School in Ohio. This led to the closure of both schools for explosive searches.
