On 17/9/2025, authorities identified the victim as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Her severely decomposed body was found on 10/9/2025, locked in the trunk of a Tesla parked in a Hollywood Hills impound lot. The vehicle was registered to 20-year-old singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
Celeste's mother reported that the teen went missing from her Lake Elsinore, California home in May 2024 and had a boyfriend named David. Celeste also had a "Shhh..." tattoo on her right index finger, similar to one D4vd has. Other celebrities, including Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan, also have similar tattoos.
The victim was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, a gold bracelet, and similar metal earrings.
Authorities discovered the body wrapped in nylon after someone reported a "foul odor" coming from the car.

D4vd's representative stated the singer is "cooperating with authorities" after being identified as the car's owner.
According to a 2024 missing person report, Celeste was 13 when she disappeared. When news of the body in the trunk broke, Celeste's mother immediately suspected it was her daughter.
At the time of the discovery, D4vd was preparing for a performance in Minneapolis and actively posting to his 2.1 million Instagram followers. Reports indicate he canceled his 17/9 Seattle show.

Despite his cooperation with authorities, D4vd's career has suffered. Crocs and Hollister dropped him just days after announcing him as the face of their "Dream Drop" collaboration. Product images featuring D4vd were released, but his face was cropped out.
D4vd, pronounced "David", was born in 2005 in Queens, New York. A former streamer, he transitioned to music and gained popularity with his 2022 song "Romantic Homicide," which reached the Billboard Top 100 within days of its release.
He released his debut album in May 2023 to critical acclaim. His song "Here With Me" has amassed around 1.5 billion streams on Spotify.
