On 26/7, 36-year-old Thanh, a resident of Thanh Hoa, was detained by Ha Tinh provincial police. He is being investigated for "Violation of regulations on road traffic participation" under Article 260 of the penal code.

According to the investigation, Thanh worked as a hired driver for Tan Kim Chi Transport Company Limited, based in Da Nang.
On the evening of 24/7, Thanh was driving a sleeper bus with a Da Nang license plate, carrying over 30 passengers on a fixed route from Hanoi to Da Nang. At 2:10 AM on 25/7, the bus was traveling at high speed on National Highway 1, passing through Dong Trinh residential area, Song Tri ward, in the former Ky Anh town. It was drizzling at the time. The 12-meter-wide road had two lanes and was open on both sides with no bends.

Seconds later, the bus lost control, hitting milestones and a high-voltage power pole by the roadside, causing it to overturn. 9 people died at the scene, some of whom were from the same family. 16 injured individuals were taken to Ky Anh Town General Hospital, one of whom, critically injured, was later taken home and subsequently died.
Currently, 14 people are in stable condition. 9 requested transfer to hospitals in their hometowns on the same afternoon, and the remaining 5 were discharged today.
A Laotian victim with a fractured cervical vertebra and at risk of paralysis was transferred to Hue Central Hospital on the afternoon of 25/7.
