The travel restriction, imposed by Thanh Hoa provincial police investigators, will last until 6/1/2026.
Authorities have not yet publicly disclosed the specific violations or charges against Hung.

54-year-old Do Trong Hung, originally from the former Quang Xuong district, previously worked for the Quang Xuong district party committee's propaganda department, then in the offices of the Quang Xuong district party committee and the Thanh Hoa provincial party committee, and as secretary to the provincial party secretary.
From 2005 to 2015, Hung held positions as head of the provincial party committee office, secretary of the Nong Cong district party committee, and head of the provincial propaganda department. In 2016, he became the standing deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and served as Thanh Hoa provincial party secretary from 10/2020.
In 9/2024, the politburo appointed him as deputy head of the central organizing committee.
Hung's predecessor as Thanh Hoa provincial party secretary, Trinh Van Chien, also faced legal trouble after retirement due to violations related to the Hac Thanh Tower project.
On 18/1/2025, Chien was sentenced by the Thanh Hoa provincial people's court to 30 months in prison (suspended sentence) for violating regulations on the management and use of state assets, causing loss and waste, under article 219 of the penal code.
