Charged for hitting a traffic police officer

Pham Trong Huy, 36, failed to comply with law enforcement's orders, driving his vehicle into an alcohol checkpoint and injuring a traffic police officer.

Huy, 36, was temporarily detained for resisting public officials, Hai Phong City Police announced on 13/12.

According to authorities, on the evening of 6/12, Huy was driving a motorcycle on Nguyen Luong Bang street, Thanh Dong ward, when he encountered an alcohol checkpoint set up by Traffic Police Team No. 5, Hai Phong City Police. When an officer signaled him to stop, Huy failed to comply, continued driving, struck Major Nguyen Son Tung, and then fled the scene.

Major Tung sustained soft tissue injuries, requiring 4 stitches, and was promptly taken to the emergency room. Huy was apprehended shortly after and handed over to Thanh Dong Ward Police for further investigation.
