Detective Andrew Fearon has filed a lawsuit against North Wales Police, seeking 200,000 GBP in damages for physical and psychological harm, along with an additional 144,000 GBP for lost income. The lawsuit alleges that his fiancee, Rebecca Hutt, a fellow detective constable, had affairs with two colleagues within the force, leading to an unfair investigation and Andrew's severe psychological distress and eventual resignation.
According to documents filed at Liverpool High Court, Andrew Fearon and Rebecca Hutt were both detective constables with the North Wales Police force. The issues began in summer 2017 when Rebecca confessed to an affair with a colleague, detective Shaun Parry. The extramarital relationship reportedly started while they were both stationed at St Asaph city police station, while Andrew was working less than 60 km away in Menai Bridge town.
Four months before their wedding, Andrew filed a formal complaint against Rebecca regarding serious misconduct related to the affair that occurred at the police station. However, instead of facing disciplinary action, Shaun was merely transferred. Andrew's lawsuit alleges that Shaun's superior officers colluded to ensure he would not be disciplined for his sexual conduct with Rebecca.
Andrew took four months off work due to stress. He also requested North Wales Police investigate separate allegations against his fiancee concerning coercive control, domestic violence, and fraud.
In November 2017, inspector Steve Williams was assigned to investigate the scandal. Inspector Williams concluded that Rebecca was permitted to retain her position and closed the case. However, Andrew alleges that Inspector Williams had a romantic relationship with Rebecca throughout the investigation. According to court documents, "inspector Steve Williams used his position to influence the investigation's outcome in favor of Rebecca Hutt".

Andrew also claims his police station access card was deactivated following Inspector Williams' decision, meaning he could not access his workplace. Andrew resigned after his request for a third-party investigation into the matter was denied.
Inspector Williams and Rebecca married in 2022. Inspector Williams has since retired, while Rebecca remains in active police service. Meanwhile, Shaun Parry was dismissed without notice in 2019 due to separate allegations of "inappropriate conduct" with a female colleague.
Andrew's lawyer stated that the lawsuit focuses on North Wales Police's failure to fairly investigate the alleged misconduct and Rebecca's relationships with other officers. This left Andrew "feeling isolated and unsupported, leading to severe psychological harm".
Inspector Williams denies having a romantic relationship with Rebecca during the affair investigation, asserting Andrew's allegations are "malicious and baseless". Shaun Parry "had no comment" regarding Andrew or the incident. North Wales Police declined to comment, stating the trial is scheduled for July.
