In the early morning of 23/9, Nguyen Van Chi, a resident of Hoai Nhon ward, drove a sleeper bus carrying 16 passengers from TP HCM to Gia Lai on National Highway 1. According to the investigation, the bus was involved in a fatal accident.

Upon reaching the Go Gang intersection in An Nhon Bac ward, the bus collided with a motorbike, driven by Nguyen Dinh Phung, 63, and a parked car. The impact caused the passenger bus to overturn, with part of its body resting on the sidewalk.

The accident claimed the lives of Phung and a female passenger on the bus, and injured four others. Three vehicles sustained damage, with estimated losses totaling about 95 million dong. At the time of the incident, it was raining, and the road conditions were slippery.

Gia Lai Provincial Police's initial assessment indicates that driver Chi operated the vehicle without proper observation, which led to the accident. Investigators have temporarily detained Chi to further clarify the cause, collect evidence, and record statements from all involved parties.
