Failed robbery leads to revenge attack in An Giang

After a botched fish bucket theft, a 25-year-old man and his accomplices returned to the scene with weapons to retaliate against the homeowner.

On 9/8, Chau Mai, 25, and four others aged 17 to 29 were arrested by An Giang provincial police for robbery. Chau Dom, 29, was also arrested for receiving stolen property.

The incident began late on 6/10/2024, when Mai and four others broke into the home of Ms. Lai in Vinh Te ward, Chau Doc city, to steal. They spotted a bucket of fish outside the house and took it, intending to eat it. However, the homeowner discovered them and chased them away. During their escape, one of the thieves dropped their phone.

Angered by this, the group recruited more people, armed themselves, and returned to Ms. Lai's house. They vandalized the property, forcing the family to lock themselves inside for safety. Before leaving, Mai's group stole Ms. Lai's mobile phone and a chicken. They then sold the phone and split the proceeds.

Based on gathered evidence, the police summoned the individuals involved. They confessed to their actions and identified the person who bought the stolen phone.
