On 11/9, Da Nang City's Police Department initiated legal proceedings and detained Nguyen Thanh Truong, 36, from Hai Phong, and Nguyen Ngoc Chau, 38, from Da Nang, for producing and trading counterfeit food products.

Director Nguyen Huu Hop of the Da Nang City Police Department ordered an investigation after investigators discovered suspicious activity in the production line of bottled bird's nest drink that posed potential health risks to consumers.

Initial investigations revealed that Truong established two companies in Da Nang in 2023, listing Chau and Chau's sister as legal representatives. In early 2024, Truong set up a production facility in Dien Ban Dong ward, investing in equipment to manufacture the counterfeit bird's nest drink.

Truong and Chau handled the entire process, from mixing and bottling to labeling and packaging. The product was then distributed across Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, and other locations, deceiving thousands of consumers.

Authorities searched the Vannest Co. Ltd. factory in the Dien Duong residential and market area, confiscating nearly 38,000 bottles of counterfeit bird's nest drink across 15 product types. Testing revealed that five types contained no Sialic acid, a crucial component of bird's nest, while the remaining 10 contained only 1% of the standard amount.

The investigation is ongoing.
