Female director runs counterfeit cosmetics production facility

Vu Thi Thu Ha accused of leading large-scale counterfeit cosmetics ring in Ha Khanh Industrial Cluster.

On 21/1, Vu Thi Thu Ha, 30, director of Celab Cosmetics Co., Ltd., was prosecuted by Quang Ninh provincial police. She has been barred from leaving her residence while under investigation for manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods.

Le Thi Phuong Lien, 31, residing in Yen Tu ward, was also temporarily detained in connection with the case.

Authorities previously inspected Celab Cosmetics Co., Ltd.'s production facility at lot 6, parcel DNN, Ha Khanh Industrial Cluster, Cao Xanh ward. There, they found over 11,000 bottles of counterfeit hair dye labeled "Hamiko Brown Hair Gray Coverage Shampoo", 960 bottles of "Mira" shampoo, and 504 bottles of "Colab Glamour". All products showed signs of not meeting quality standards.

Investigators determined that Ha directly instructed 4 workers to produce counterfeit cosmetics at the facility. The factory gate was locked from the outside and bolted from the inside when workers were present. Mixing, filling, packaging, and living areas were clearly separated.

Ha used social media to continuously post images of machinery, promote production capabilities, and accept cosmetic processing orders. This created a facade of a professional business.

From 11/2024 until her arrest, Ha produced 45,000 counterfeit hair dye products for Le Thi Phuong Lien. Lien then advertised, sold, and distributed these products through online business groups.

Investigators stated that the advertising tactics were deliberate. They used images and information mimicking genuine products to deceive consumers and build trust in product quality and origin. This case highlights organized counterfeit production and trading, which exploited online platforms to conceal activities. Such operations directly harm consumer health and negatively impact the market.

The successful resolution of this case is considered a significant achievement during the current crackdown on economic crimes. It contributes to restoring order within the cosmetic production and business sector.
