Previously, the Internal Political Security Division discovered two Facebook accounts that posted articles and comments containing derogatory content related to the Quang Tri provincial People's Council (HDND) election for the 2026-2031 term. The posts targeted a police officer who was a candidate for the provincial People's Council.
Collaborating with functional forces, the division identified the two account owners in Dong Hoi ward.
During questioning, the men admitted that on 2/3, after seeing information about the police officer candidate on social media, they posted comments with the intention of ridiculing and insulting the police force's honor, reputation, and image. They attributed their actions to limited awareness and momentary impulsiveness.
The two men have since proactively removed the posts and committed not to re-offend.
