The Ministry of Public Security announced on 4/9 that the Department of Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Investigation (C03) is expanding its investigation into a fraud case involving Egroup Education JSC, Egame, Nhat Tran Co., and other related entities. The investigation encompasses charges of fraud, bribery, and receiving bribes.
C03 has indicted 23 Egame business managers on fraud charges. They include: Nguyen Thi Dung (Thuy's younger sister), Nguyen Van Son (Thuy's younger brother), Nguyen Trong Vu (Dung's husband), Pham Thi Ngoan, Vu Thi Dung, Dinh Thi Phuong Theu, Do Thi Hong Nhung, Nguyen Trong Quynh, Nguyen Thi Quynh, Doan Thi Minh Duc, Bui Kim Thuy, Nguyen Quynh Chi, Vu Thi Thu Hien, Do Thi Khanh Huyen, Doi Thi Tam, Quach Minh Phuong, Nguyen Huu Xuan, Nguyen Khanh Toan, Le Chi Dung, Le Thanh Son, Pham Duc Hanh, Tran Thi Thanh Nga, and Ha Van Tai.
C03 alleges these 23 individuals conspired with Thuy to commit fraud. Four of the accused—Nguyen Thi Dung, Vu Thi Dung, Bui Kim Thuy, and Tran Thi Thanh Nga—have been placed under house arrest due to their established residency, clear backgrounds, cooperative attitudes, and candid confessions during the investigation. The remaining 19 individuals have been detained.

Previously, Thuy was indicted by C03 on charges of bribery and fraud. Tong Thi Kim Lien, chairwoman and CEO of Nhat Tran Co., was charged with receiving bribes. Dang Van Hien, head of shareholder relations at Egame, Pham Thi Thanh Tho (chief accountant at Egroup), and Nguyen Thi Hoai Huong (accountant at Egame) were also investigated for fraud.
The Ministry of Public Security alleges that from 2015 to 2023, Thuy and his accomplices used Egame to fraudulently raise capital using non-existent Egroup shares. Thuy's methods included selling shares for cash or bank transfers, exchanging shares for real estate, and securing loans from investors with shares as collateral.

C03 initiated the investigation after receiving complaints from numerous investors accusing Thuy of fraud through the transfer of Egroup Education JSC shares.
In a separate incident in 2023, Ho Chi Minh City police also investigated hundreds of complaints from parents alleging that Apax Leaders English JSC misappropriated approximately 6 billion VND in tuition fees.
