Four individuals accused of 'undermining national unity policy'

Operating under the guise of the self-proclaimed "Bahnar Dega Kon Kong" organization, the suspect group allegedly lured over 200 people, collected lists, and sent them abroad to revive the Fulro forces.

On 9/4, Gia Lai Provincial Police completed their investigation conclusions, recommending the prosecution of four individuals for "undermining national unity policy": Thong, 34, from Bo Ngoong commune; Roh, 63, from Ayun commune; Di (also known as Siu Di), 85, from Lo Pang commune; and Dinh Yum, 63, from Bo Ngoong commune.

Di and Dinh Yum are currently residing abroad and are proposed for prosecution and trial in absentia.

According to the investigation, starting in 2019, Di and Dinh Yum, identified as exiled Fulro members, connected with and directed domestic contacts to organize activities aimed at reviving their forces. Their ultimate goal was secession and the establishment of a "separate state" for the Bahnar people in Tay Nguyen.

From 2023 to the present, the two individuals are accused of intensifying propaganda efforts, recruiting people to join the self-proclaimed "Bahnar Dega Kon Kong" organization. They also collected lists of participants and sent them abroad to solicit external intervention.

Within Vietnam, Roh and Thong allegedly developed the movement, establishing six groups in Ayun and Bo Ngoong communes with over 200 participants. These two also collected lists of hundreds of people and received money along with various items such as shirts, hats, banners, and badges from abroad to gradually formalize and strengthen their forces.

The investigative agency determined that Di and Dinh Yum held a directing role, regularly communicating, providing financial support, resources, and operational guidance to the domestic groups. This group is accused of exploiting a religious guise to propagate and recruit people, gradually reviving Fulro and the so-called "Dega Protestantism", thereby sowing disunity within the great national unity bloc.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Day, Head of the Investigation Security Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police, stated: "The true nature of 'Bahnar Dega Kon Kong' is not a religious organization but a tactic of concept-swapping aimed at concealing the activities of Fulro and 'Dega Protestantism'."
