Gang-related assault with a gun over a 10 million Vietnamese dong debt

Le Thanh Long, 49, and a group of teenagers, armed with a gun and iron rods, allegedly assaulted a barbershop owner to demand a 10 million Vietnamese dong debt.

Hung Yen provincial police initiated criminal proceedings on 16/2 against Le Thanh Long, Duong Duc Viet (19), and Pham Nam Khanh (16) for robbery.

Long and Viet were taken into temporary custody, while Khanh was placed under a travel ban.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of 14/2, when Hong Chau ward police received a report of a serious altercation at a barbershop in Residential Group 2.

Initial investigations revealed that the 28-year-old shop owner owed Long 10 million Vietnamese dong, which had not yet been repaid. Long then recruited Viet, Khanh, and two other teenagers to confront the owner. During the discussion, Long reportedly drew a gun (type undisclosed), threatened the owner, and, along with his accomplices, assaulted the debtor. The entire incident was captured by the store's security camera.

Authorities are continuing to consolidate the case file and process it according to legal regulations.
