Heinous midnight stabbing by 'de facto son-in-law'

Bui Bao Tai, 29, confessed to breaking into his girlfriend's home and stabbing her father in the middle of the night, claiming he was prevented from visiting their child.

Long An Provincial Police announced on the evening of 18/2 that they are temporarily detaining Tai, a native of Vinh Hung commune, to investigate a murder charge.

Three years ago, Tai had been living with a 21-year-old woman in Tuyen Binh commune, and they had one daughter. As they were not legally married, the woman's father later prevented Tai from seeing their one-year-old child.

Tai then planned revenge, purchasing a knife. After 1 am yesterday, he climbed over the fence into the man's home, entered the mosquito net, and stabbed him multiple times, ignoring the victim's cries.

The 46-year-old victim was rushed to the emergency room but succumbed to his injuries. Police subsequently apprehended Tai.
