"The peak period of crime suppression, aimed at ensuring security and order for the 2026 Lunar New Year, holds significant importance," stated Lieutenant General Mai Hoang, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, at the force's launch ceremony on the morning of 12/12.
The event was attended by Tran Van Bay, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Major General Cao Dang Hung, Deputy Chief of Office, Ministry of Public Security, along with leaders from various departments and sectors.
This crime crackdown will run from 15/12 to 16/3/2026. According to Mai Hoang, the results of the upcoming 90 days and nights will create momentum to achieve and surpass the year's crime prevention targets, fostering a safe environment for residents, tourists, and investors to choose the city as a destination.

The head of the city's police stated that 2026 will be a time for many important political events, such as the 14th National Congress of the Party, the election of 16th National Assembly deputies, and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. As Ho Chi Minh City continues to assert its role as an economic locomotive (accounting for over 23,5% of the national GDP), the demand for ensuring security and order is paramount.
The city's police commander requested all forces to focus on implementing 5 key contents. Among these, they will continue to affirm the people's primary role and effectively promote the "All people protect national security" movement.
Police forces will intensify communication, advising the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on plans to enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention, transform complex areas, and reduce criminal offenses.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City Police has set specific targets ("KPIs") to clear the area: striving for 30% of communes to be drug-free; at least 30% of residential areas and hamlets in the remaining communes to meet drug-free criteria. The unit also commits to ensuring 100% of educational, medical, and business facilities are drug-free, aiming to build a "drug-free Ho Chi Minh City" by 2030.

In the first 6 months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City Police excellently completed its task of protecting security and order, with clear progress compared to the same period last year. It effectively resolved prominent and complex issues early, remotely, and at the grassroots level; ensuring political security and reducing crime by nearly 8% compared to the same period.
