Sau, a resident of Dong Thanh commune, formerly part of Yen Thanh district, was taken into custody by Nghe An provincial police on the evening of 11/9. He is being investigated for murder under Article 123 of the penal code.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on 10/9. Ngan, also 53, returned home from work and became involved in a dispute with Sau, who was resting in a hammock. The argument escalated quickly.

During the altercation, Ngan allegedly struck Sau repeatedly on the head with a paper fan. Authorities say Sau, enraged, ran into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and returned to confront his wife. Ngan then allegedly attacked him with a rice-threshing tool. Sau dodged the blow and stabbed his wife twice. She collapsed and died at the scene.

Sau remained at the house after the incident and was arrested by Dong Thanh commune police a short time later.

The couple had three children. Two are married, and one is currently a student.
