On 30/8, 47-year-old Linh, a resident of Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province, was arrested and detained by Vinh Long provincial police. He is being investigated for illegal possession of narcotics under Article 249 of the penal code.

Following a tip from residents about suspected cannabis plants growing in a garden in My Phu 5 Hamlet, Tam Binh Commune, local police and the Vinh Long provincial drug crime investigation police conducted an inspection on 15/8.

Authorities discovered numerous green and brown branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits, suspected to be parts of cannabis plants. These items were collected, dried, and stored in two huts within the garden cultivated by Linh.

Linh was subsequently arrested. The Vinh Long provincial forensic science department confirmed the seized plants were cannabis, weighing a total of 5.12 kg.

Linh confessed to renting the thousand-square-meter garden for agricultural purposes, using a portion of it to cultivate cannabis.
