Quang Ngai Provincial Police detained Nguyen Van Kieu, residing in Trung An village, Binh Son commune, for four months on 17/12/2024. He is being investigated for intentional injury.

According to the investigation, Kieu harbored resentment towards the neighborhood children, alleging they frequently disturbed his garden.

On the evening of 17/10/2024, Kieu was driving his motorbike home when he encountered a group of children, aged 12 to 13, playing on a concrete road in the hamlet. Upon hearing the children shout "run fast", he became enraged, grabbed a six-hole brick, and threw it towards the group.

The brick struck a 12-year-old boy in the face, causing him to become disoriented and fall. His family subsequently rushed him to Quang Nam Central General Hospital for emergency medical care.

Medical examination results revealed the victim sustained a fractured frontal bone, fractures to the anterior and internal walls of the right maxillary sinus, a fractured nasal bone, and fluid accumulation in multiple sinuses. The total body injury rate was determined to be 36%.

Investigators deemed Kieu's actions to be serious. Local authorities noted that Kieu was known to regularly consume alcohol and frequently cause public disorder.
