The decision to impose the fine, based on Decree 144/2021, was issued by Nhon My commune police for the act of reporting false and untrue information to competent authorities.

Earlier, on 2/12, Son called Nhon My commune police, falsely reporting a fire at a rice husk warehouse in Nhon An hamlet. Emergency services, including personnel and vehicles, were dispatched to the scene, but found no evidence of a blaze. Son later admitted to fabricating the information, stating his intention was to 'tease' the police.

Local police urged residents to act responsibly and refrain from fabricating or spreading false information. Such actions, they warned, can cause public alarm, disrupt security and order, and waste valuable resources of emergency services.
