The incident occurred late on 26/2. Le Huu Phung, a resident of Chau Pha commune, was out drinking with his girlfriend and her brother at a beer garden near Hac Dich market. Afterward, Phung's girlfriend booked a ride-hailing taxi via an app to take them to a hotel.

Taxi driver Le Van Nam, 29, arrived for the pickup. Phung's girlfriend instructed him to wait in the car while she used the restroom. The prolonged wait prompted Nam to request a cancellation, leading to an argument.

Once all three were in the vehicle, Phung, seated in the back with his girlfriend, grabbed Nam's neck and repeatedly struck his head, face, and chest. Following the assault, the driver demanded that the three passengers exit the vehicle and cancel the ride.

Phung and his girlfriend subsequently took another taxi home, while her brother was transported by a friend on a motorbike.

In the early morning of 28/2, Phung reported to the Tan Thanh Ward Police, where he admitted to assaulting Nam.

Authorities are currently compiling a case file and considering legal action against Phung for disturbing public order and other related violations.
