Ha, who lived with his parents and sister in a single-story house in Huong Son neighborhood, Long Huong ward (Ba Ria City), had a history of drug abuse and was under local post-rehabilitation monitoring.

Around 3 a.m., Ha, allegedly experiencing a drug-induced psychosis, attacked his 62-year-old mother with a knife, resulting in her death. His 37-year-old sister suffered serious neck injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

After the attack, the suspect discarded the knife in a nearby garden and was subsequently apprehended by Long Huong ward police.

The investigation is ongoing.
