Man kills friend over drinking dispute

Nguyen Hoang Nam, 39, fatally stabbed a 33-year-old man following an argument while drinking beer.

On 23/2, An Giang Provincial Police announced that Nam is currently under criminal detention for investigation into murder.

According to the initial investigation, at approximately 20h on 17/2, Nam and a friend arrived at a restaurant on Lien Huong road, Rach Gia ward, to drink beer with Tinh's group.

During the drinking session, Nam claimed Tinh made disrespectful remarks towards others at the table, leading to an argument. Nam retrieved a folding knife he carried, intending to fight, but others intervened.

In response to Nam's actions, Tinh threw a glass, missing him, and was then critically stabbed by Nam.

Tinh was rushed to Kien Giang General Hospital for emergency treatment but later died. Nam surrendered to Rach Gia ward police.
