On 20/8, Thanh, a resident of Phuong Liet ward, was prosecuted and detained for two months by Hanoi police while they investigate charges of disturbing public order.

Thanh confessed to a prior disagreement with the family of the 28-year-old woman, who also lives at the Sky Central apartment building at 176 Dinh Cong Street. Around 10:30 PM on 9/8, Thanh, his wife, and his son encountered the woman on the first floor of the building. A discussion ensued, escalating into an argument. Thanh demanded an apology, and when the woman refused, he attacked her.

Security camera footage shows Thanh punching the woman twice in the face. As she retreated, he kicked her in the abdomen and continued to punch her head and face over 10 times. Security guards intervened, but Thanh remained aggressive, attempting to continue the assault.

The incident, which lasted less than a minute, unfolded in front of another woman and four children.

A resident of the building reported that the conflict began with a minor disagreement between the two children, which then escalated into a heated argument between the parents. After the physical assault, Thanh reportedly shouted threats and threatened to kill the woman.
