According to Duy, on the evening of 6/9, he drove a friend home on Binh Duong Boulevard in Phu Loi ward (formerly Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province). After his friend entered their home, Duy parked his truck on the sidewalk, left the passenger door open for ventilation, and fell asleep.
The next morning, a passerby noticed Duy asleep in the vehicle with the door ajar and, suspecting something amiss, woke him. Upon checking his belongings, Duy discovered that various gold items, including necklaces, bracelets, and rings (estimated to be 30 taels of gold), along with his cell phone, were missing.
Nearby security footage reveals a man wearing a ride-hailing service jacket approaching the rear of the truck around 3 a.m. and rummaging inside with a flashlight for about a minute.
Suspecting this individual of the theft, Duy filed a police report.
Ho Chi Minh City police investigated the scene and are searching for the person of interest.
