Man sets romantic rival on fire in Dong Nai

An 18-year-old man doused his romantic rival with gasoline and set him on fire after seeing him with the woman he loved.

Dong Nai police are holding Dao Ngo Ngoc Tuan, 18, on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident on 20/8.

Tuan and a 20-year-old man from Tay Ninh province were both romantically interested in a 17-year-old girl in Phuoc Tan ward. At approximately 10 PM on 20/8, Tuan purchased gasoline and went to the girl’s house, intending to threaten his rival.

Upon arrival, Tuan saw the two talking in front of the house. In a fit of jealousy, he doused the 20-year-old with gasoline and ignited it. Bystanders quickly extinguished the flames and took the victim to the hospital with severe burns.

Tuan fled the scene and was apprehended yesterday afternoon in Ho Chi Minh City.
