On 25/8, police in Quang Tri province arrested Ho Ngoc Van, Ho Van Dan, Ho Quang Dat, and Ho Van Phu, all residing in Hieu Giang commune, on suspicion of murder and concealing a crime. The arrests followed a fatal shooting that took place at around 7 pm.

Prior to the incident, Dat had given Van a handgun. The four men traveled on two motorbikes to Khe Ha village in Huong Hiep commune, where they stopped at the roadside to use their phones. They encountered Ho Van Trieu, and a dispute arose. Trieu hit Van with a helmet. In retaliation, Van shot Trieu, resulting in his death.

Following the shooting, Van and his accomplices fled the scene, hiding their motorbikes in a drainage culvert. Phu hid the gun at the house of a villager. The four returned home, where they were arrested four hours later.

Police have recovered a handgun, five bullets, and other related evidence.
