Investigations revealed that Tinh went to his father, Do Van Moc's house, carrying a sword and petrol, following a family dispute. He ignited a petrol bottle, throwing it onto the porch, then used the sword to injure Mr. Moc's left forearm. Residents and local security forces intervened, stopping Tinh's initial assault.
Tinh then left, but soon returned to Mr. Moc's house with two plastic bottles filled with petrol and makeshift wicks. A Quang Phu Ward Police team was already at the scene, documenting the earlier incident and preparing a report.
As the officers worked, Tinh ignited and repeatedly hurled the two burning petrol bottles at the police team and bystanders.
The attack resulted in significant injuries: Doan Ngoc Dao, an officer from Quang Phu Ward Police, suffered facial burns and corneal damage, requiring emergency medical treatment. Mr. Moc sustained burns to his shoulder and leg. Additionally, police equipment and official documents at the scene were damaged by fire.
Tinh was immediately subdued and arrested at the scene. Authorities confiscated the two plastic bottles containing petrol, one sword, and other related evidence.
