According to the indictment, Quyen and Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, 20, residing in Hai Chau commune (formerly part of Dien Chau district), were in a romantic relationship. Around 19h on 26/1/2025, due to a conflict, Quyen concealed a knife over 20 cm long in his sleeve and arranged to meet his girlfriend at the Cu Nai hamlet dike area to "talk."
Upon meeting, the two began to argue loudly. Authorities alleged that during the argument, Quyen drew the knife and attacked Hien, who died at the scene.
Witnessing the incident, Hoang Ngoc Thong, 20, Hien's friend, who was standing nearby, drove his motorbike into Quyen's legs, causing the defendant to fall to the ground. Quyen then stood up and swung the knife, killing Thong.
After committing the crime, Quyen fled the scene on his motorbike. After about one kilometer, he fell unconscious, and residents took him to the emergency room.
