Anzhelika Tartanova, 33, suffered head trauma, severe brain damage, and lasting sequelae after being assaulted by Dmitry Kuzmin, a 42-year-old construction magnate, on 23/11/2025. The attack occurred because she wanted to end their six-month relationship.
Anzhelika was thrown onto the street with severe injuries. She survived only because a passerby helped call an ambulance.
On 3/5, media reported that Dmitry died suddenly from a heart attack, after being informed of his potential sentence.

Initially, businessman Dmitry hoped to avoid a prison sentence and was even allowed to visit Anzhelika in the hospital. However, he was later charged with attempted murder.
Dmitry was informed that he would face at least 8 years in prison. The only way to avoid incarceration was to participate in the conflict in Ukraine.
Russian media stated: "Preliminary reports suggest Dmitry suffered heart failure due to psychological trauma from the criminal case against him following the brutal assault on Anzhelika."
Four months prior, Anzhelika appeared on television to share details about her severe injuries. She revealed her slow recovery process and that her ability to speak had not fully returned. "For a long time, I didn't dare to go near a mirror, I was very afraid", Anzhelika said.
According to Starhit, businessman Dmitry assaulted Anzhelika to the extent that he broke bones, causing her to "almost lose half her skull". The model suffered impaired speech, memory, and motor coordination, requiring a long recovery process and multiple surgeries.

Doctors confirmed the attack caused severe brain trauma, necessitating emergency surgery to save her life. Neurosurgeon Vyacheslav Smirnov described Anzhelika's case as "complex and severe". She sustained a subdural hematoma, damage and destruction of brain tissue, and severe traumatic brain injury.
The surgery required doctors to remove a large part of Anzhelika's skull to reduce pressure on her brain, a procedure known as decompressive craniectomy. Doctor Smirnov stated that Anzhelika's skull would later be reconstructed using modern technology.
