The incident took place on the evening of January 18 when Ngoc, a resident of Thanh Xuan ward, went to dinner at a restaurant within the Nam Thang Hanoi Residential Area project in Phung Khoang. Following restaurant staff's instructions, she parked her Mercedes-Benz GLC200 in front of a house that housed an English language center. Ngoc was away for about one and a half hours, from 19:55 to 21:20, leaving her contact phone number on the vehicle.
Upon her return, Ngoc reviewed security camera footage. The footage showed two women smashing the side mirrors, hitting a car window with a helmet, and using a sharp object to scratch multiple areas around the car's body. They also placed a potted plant under the vehicle.
Ngoc reported the incident to local police, stating an estimated repair cost of over 116 million VND, as quoted by the car manufacturer. In February, authorities initiated the case. According to the police, the property valuation conclusion by the Property Valuation Council in the legal proceedings of Dai Mo Ward People's Committee (UBND) determined the total cost for repairs and headlamp replacement to be 56,3 million VND. However, Ngoc disagreed with this amount.
