The former Ministry of Public Security headquarters at 44 Yet Kieu Street, Cua Nam Ward, was built with Soviet aid in 1976. Despite several renovations, the building had deteriorated and no longer met the requirements for work and operations. The Ministry of Public Security headquarters at 47 Pham Van Dong Street has been in use since 2010, but most of the area has been repurposed for the construction of the National Population Database Center.
